Welcome to Ridge Spring-Monetta Elementary School!

Thank you for visiting the Ridge Spring-Monetta (RSM) Elementary School website. In addition to learning more about our school and community through our website, I hope you have opportunities to visit us in person to share in our endeavors to provide all of our students in grades pre-kindergarten through fifth a high-quality, educational experience that inspires a love for learning. We strive to achieve this by getting to know each and every student’s educational needs and interests to better assist us in developing instructional plans to best help each student learn. Our school community of dedicated teachers and staff, involved parents and community members, and most importantly, our fabulous students, make this possible.
School Hours:  7:50 - 2:30
Early Release Hours: 7:50am - 12:35pm

UPCOMING TESTING
This past summer the S. C. Legislature changed the state testing program.  A new test called Aspire will be given in grades 3 through 8 to test reading, writing, English, math, and science. Students in grades 4-8 will continue to take the SCPASS tests for science and social studies.  The Aspire ELA and math tests will be given on April 28 -30, the Aspire science test on May 5, and the two SCPASS tests will be administered on May 7 and 8, 2015.

The biggest change that our students will notice is that each Aspire subtest has a time limit.  Students will be tested for approximately one hour per day, and the writing test must be completed in 30 minutes.  Some students may not finish before they must stop working and turn in their tests.  Our students are more familiar with the SCPASS tests, which have no specific time limits.  Teachers are currently providing practice for students so that they will become more comfortable with the timed tests.    The two different science tests will allow us to assess our students’ knowledge of the South Carolina science standards while still being able to compare our students’ achievement with their peers nationally.
